I've been on & off motorcycles since about 10 years old. My older brothers had motorcycles, and I followed in their footsteps. It started with cruisers; I really wanted a sport bike, but always had or rode cruisers, since that seemed like the 'sensible' thing to do.
After college, I was bike-less for a number of years before meeting someone at my job that had a motorcycle and was looking to purchase a new one. With him talking about it all the time, discussing it with him, going to the dealerships with him, and having a job where could again afford a motorcycle, I decided to purchase one for myself. So, in the Spring of '00 I bought a new cruiser. That summer, we went to the AMA races at Road America (I hadn't been there since college), and the bug to get a sport bike was really starting to get me again.
In the Spring of '01, before it was even warm enough (for most people) to ride, I traded off the cruiser & got a new liter bike. At the time, I weighed 280#, and not knowing better, we thought I 'needed' a liter bike to pull my weight around. I met a couple local people through TWiSTAR and soon found out I've had a number of bad riding habits. I've come a long way, but still need to work on them. I rode the rural roads of SW Wisconsin at what I thought was a quick pace, but as I learned to ride better and met other people with better riding skills, I've realized that even though I'm much faster now, I'm still not that fast.
I love doing trackdays, most at the 'local' Blackhawk Farms Raceway, but have ridden a few other tracks as well.
